Originally, Château Tour Léognan was an estate adjoining Château Carbonnieux. When Marc Perrin acquired both properties in 1956, he combined the two vineyards and undertook a replanting program. Château Tour Léognan then became part of the Carbonnieux range. Since its origin, its wines have been made from young plantings of Carbonnieux (vines under 12 years old). Each year, around 3 hectares are uprooted and replanted 2 or 3 years later. The vineyard practices and vinification follow exactly the same processes as those of the classified growths; only the aging is adapted so that the wines can be enjoyed in their youth.
