Environmental commitments

Château Carbonnieux has been certified HVE
(High Environmental Value) since 2017.

Responsible and environmentally respectful viticulture is practiced across the entire vineyard; ecological methods that preserve biodiversity and stimulate the vine’s natural defenses are prioritized.

Château Carbonnieux has also been a member, since 2011, of the SME (Environmental Management System) association for Bordeaux wines.

Committed

All the staff
of Château Carbonnieux
are engaged in this
eco-responsible approach.

From offices to vineyards, all waste produced by the estate is sorted and recycled.

Management of resource consumption (water, electricity, etc.)

Maintenance of woodland edges and hedgerows to preserve biodiversity.

Annual replanting of trees and hedges.

Continuous monitoring of the vineyard to work each plot according to its specific needs (weather station installed at the heart of the vineyard).

“Traditional” soil cultivation without the use of herbicides

Seasonal manual work (shoot thinning, leaf removal, green harvesting, harvesting, etc.) helps limit the use of plant protection products by aerating the grape clusters and naturally preventing rot.

Use of only natural, organic, and mineral fertilizers to compensate for what the plant has consumed during its vegetative cycle.

Flowered fallow periods for plots to be replanted, in order to maintain small wildlife and especially the estate’s bees; fallowing is done with a selection of plants that will also serve as natural fertilizers as they decompose in the soil.
