Tour and Tasting


Classic tasting-tour by appointment with a trained guide.

Discovery of the highlights of the history of the property, presentation of the vineyard and its specific terroir, visit of the cellars (white and red), explanation about the picking, the winemaking and ageing of wines. Throughout the visit discover a collection of old cars, coopers’tools, Toby jugs and the “memory” of the Chateau, a cellar where a century of vintages sleep.
The tour ends with a tasting of Château CARBONNIEUX “Grand Cru Classés” (red and white). Access to the wine boutique at the end of the visit.

Two « Grands Crus classés » neighbours, Château Haut-Bailly and Château Carbonnieux, (1.8 km distance) have formed a partnership to let you taste life in red and white. The Pessac-Leognan appellation is the only wine-growing area around Bordeaux to produce white AND red crus classés wines. During this double visit we invite you to discover the secrets and complementarity of the finest wines from this appellation.

Visit in two phases :
1st visit at 2:30pm at Château Carbonnieux focused on white wines (aromas workshop / 2-wine tastings)
2nd visit at 4:00pm at Château Haut Bailly focused on red wines (cheeseboard/chocolate/dried fruit  / 2-wine tastings)

Every Monday afternoon from May to October

Tasting Workshop

Wine and cheese pairing workshop

Fun and educational workshop to learn how to choose the perfect wine (red, white, young, old…) according to the type of cheese (goat’s, cow’s, blue…). Participants, seated around a table, are surprised and guided by two taste enthusiasts Thierry or Véronique Lafitte, cheese makers and refiners and Philibert Perrin, the owner of Château CARBONNIEUX.
The pairing workshop is preceded by a guided tour of the chateau cellars.

Workshop last Saturday of every month at 10:30am    (no workshop in December)

Reception And Event

La Salle des Bénédictins (the Benedictines Room)

Size: 120 m2 (15m x 8m)

This room derives its name from the monks from the Sainte Croix Abbey in Bordeaux ,the first owners of the estate, who played a large part in establishing the reputation of its wines. Located in the courtyard of the castle, it is the ideal place for a cocktail, country buffet, wine tasting or a business meeting.

La Salle des Pressoirs (the Presses Room)

Surface area: 225m2 (15m x 15m)

Nestled in the courtyard of the Château, our large reception room is a former fermentation cellar entirely renovated in traditional style. With its wooden capital giving it a monumental structure this room is full of character and welcoming in both summer and winter.
